Barney's Mind - Episode 2 - Special Edition

Barney's Mind - Episode 2 - Special Edition - Part 1
Barney's Mind - Episode 2 - Special Edition - Part 2

Yay, it's done. There's a great bit at the end for you people who posted a "tamale" comment on the Meeting of the Minds video. Sorry if I missed anyone though, it took long enough as is (like 4 hours to make that stupid thing, mostly because windows movie maker sucks).

Also, here's all the spellings that people came up with for "tamale": Tamale Pie Chart

Enjoy!

  1. Wow, the music during the "Tamale" surprise makes it really epic!

Anyway, another great Special Edition episode. I will be looking forward to Harrison's Mind and the next "Barney's Mind - Special Edition" episode.

  5. Wow...almost exactly one-third of the internet can't spell/has no inclination to spell.

Yeah, I pretty much expected those results.

Next time, we should make correct spelling a requirement, and pick a ridiculously hard word. For example:

    Floccinaucinihilipilification.

Yes, I spelled that from memory.

  6. @Cyh: Or "pseudopseudohypoparathyroidism", "antidisestablishmentarianism" and "hippopotomonstrosesquipedalian". These are one of the most longest words ever in English.

  7. @Rallinale and Cyh: I concur with you guys. We need to take back the English language

  8. Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovalcanocanosis

  9. Or parhaps those 33% aren't English native speakers :P I know i spelled it wrong but i heard it for the first time and couldn't find it on google according to what i thought it should be spelled.

  11. Go with Chy's idea and have them spell this, the longest word in english language (no joke). It's too long to fit in a comment, so here's a page with the word- http://sarahmcculloch.appliedgeekery.com/longest-word.html

  12. Hmm... But then they couldn't put it in a youtube comment. How about they say it aloud in a video response?

  13. Or.. maybe the first 1/100 of it.

  17. @DirtyBlue929: Aw, you can't count that. It's a protein--the name just lists every amino acid in the sequence--boo.

    @Anon: "Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovalcanocanosis"?!
    WRONG: It's PneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovOlcanoCONIOSIS.

  18. I disagree with the Dr. Pepper comment in the episode though. Dr. Pepper Rulez! Isn't DP a Coke product anyway?

  19. Hello Im the illiterate critic you remember so i dont have to (lol) today its old vs new

barneys mind episode 2 vs the remake of barneys mind episode 2

we will see how well certain catagorys hold between old or new versions so lets start with writing

old ver:although it had its funny moments some of the dialog was just plain filler(the bad kind) its even a step back from episode one's writing some of the worst writing in barneys mind happens in this episode (the whole super computer scene is a good example)but there was a few funny moments like "good job geneius" and "i forgot my glasses again" being said by a scientist wearing glasses but lets not keep beating this old horse
    let look at the new

new ver: part one had some really good writing very little filler (the bad kind)the jokes were very funny (the soda machine is a good example)
part two had some good writing is still very good though one thing thats problem is that barney should know where freeman works something I'll go into more detail later

I'll be back for part two in a bit.

  20. part two of my review next we shall compare acting

old:the acting is ok when the cascade happens while your in the elevator the acting felt very fake

new: this blows the old version out of the water in part one i luaghed my head off when i heard you say "problems" and in part two you did such a good job acting shocked and scared in the elevator that it almost beated freemans mind when it came to first reaction to the sight of the xen aliens

now we will go to canon which is about how well it ties in to the half life canon and with the other canon minds (shephards mind, freemans mind, chells mind and when ever theres a hl decay mind)

old: ties in pretty well with game lore and mind canon but WHY DID YOU NOT HAVE BARNEY TRY TO SAVE THAT SCIENTIST IN WINDOW BY THE ELEVTOR!?!

new: ties in very well with mind canon but throws game lore out the window by saying "did bp and toyota work together building this place*"it was a funny joke but bp and toyota were not in trouble in 2009 which is the last possible year for it to tie in the 200x canon of hl1 but on the bright side at lest barney dose his job by trying to kill the vortigaunt thats about to kill that scientist

now its tme to give it a score

    the old version: 5.5

    the new version: part1 8 part2 8.5

now i hope that you have enjoyed my review ian and i like to hear what you all think of the review (dont worry be honest but please be constructive so i know where to inprove)

*(i can't remember the actual quote but it was along those lines)

  21. I for one don't mind the jokes that tie into modern day, such as the BP and toyota comment.
I believe that Ian already addressed that anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Ya I agree. It's a little technical to be bitching about historical accuracy here. I mean, unless you count the Obama administration, there wasn't any alien invasion either. I personally love references to current events and popular culture.
